I listen to a wonderful podcast called The Photowalk. This podcast puts fourth assignments, one of which was to create a diptych of a door, looking both inside and out. I took up this challenge to create my first diptych, starting this project. After making this first set of photos, I was hooked.
A diptych is a story in two photos. I wanted to challenge myself to whittle down the essence of my photographic experiences to fit into this restriction.
A Rooster at the Door of an Aquaponic Garden
This rooster was very curious about me, and while he kept his distance, he constantly monitored me as I took photos of the plants inside this aquaponic garden barn. As I left, he cast a look over his shoulder, as if to say he was glad I was leaving.
Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park
While to my eye the dunes aren't so much pink as red, this state park in Utah does deliver on the promise of sand dunes in what I would consider a strange location. Walking through this place is strange as the rock formations of the surrounding area give way to this strange sand.
Old, Broken Machinery at a Ranch
An old covered wagon, and some machinery that I have no idea what is. I came across these at the same ranch as the rooster at the barn. These things were left to rot in the field, but still had so much character.
